The Soundtrack of My Life - My 100 Favorite Songs of All Time

So I've compiled a list of my 100 favorite songs of all time. These are what I guess you could call my "deserted island" songs - all of the songs I would want on my iPod, if I were standed on some deserted island, (well if island had a power source so I could constantly recharge my iPod.)

This list is a bit biased for some bands, that is to say, that some of my favorite bands (U2, The Beatles, DMB) had more songs listed than others, but hey they're my favorite, so that's the way it falls. Also, some of the songs are pretty cheesy, but they're on there because at one point or time in my life, the song always seemed to be around me, and now whenever I hear it, I always go back to that time. (Woah! I'm starting to sound like a Kenny Chesney song)

Songs #11-100 on the list are arranged in alphabetical order (no, I didn't alphabatize them myself, I let Excel do that for me), since I didn't want to take the excruciating task of weighing where each song should fall on the list. For the top 10 songs, I did rank them in order of favoritism. Anyways, here's the list..

Here's to 2006

So 2006 is just about over, and I must say, it was the most exciting year of my life. The most exciting thing to happen to me was getting married this past summer. Sara and I got married on the beach in Myrtle Beach in June, with a small ceremony with all of our close relatives and friends there to watch us. Along with being married, I moved in with Sara and Blake, we've becaome a family, and as a result I guess I offically became a grown-up (although Sara would probably disagree with that assumption). I wouldn't trade my life with anyone or for anything. Life is really really good, and I can honestly say that I've never been happier.

In a bit of a music funk

As I listen to my iPod here at work, I find myself lately skipping through a lot of songs, because I'm either bored with them, or just sick of hearing them. It's not like I've been listening to the same stuff over and over, since I've been going through my CD collection, and adding more stuff to my iTunes library, and updating my iPod. I finally realized that I haven't really bought any new stuff lately. About a month ago I bought the new Keane and Guster CD's, and this past weekend, I bought the Gnarls Barkley CD, and I still need to find the new Bob Schneider CD, but that's been about it. The problem is, I don't even know what to buy. I seem to be out of the loop on what's out there anymore, and what I do hear (the rare times that I listen to the radio), I can't stand it because it all sounds the same to me. Most of my favorite bands/performers don't have anything coming out anytime soon (U2 and R.E.M. to name a couple), and the ones that do have something coming out, I'm very skeptical about due to their track record lately (see Dave Matthews Band's last few albums).

Sara had introduced me to some good stuff earlier in the year, with Rilo Kiley and Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins, but other than that, I haven't found anything that's grabbed my attention and made me want to listen to it over and over, or go see the band/artist perform live.

So if anyone has any suggestions on things I should check out, leave 'em in the comments (if anyone acutally reads this)
